Infiniti Mérida | Alaya Tower
The first residential tower in Mérida, Yucatán, to obtain EDGE Advanced certification.
The 89-unit development features a sustainable design that reduces its environmental impact in line with the energy, water, and materials efficiency criteria of the EDGE standard, a sustainable housing certification system created by IFC (World Bank Group).

Client
The project was developed by Proarquitectura, a firm with more than 35 years of experience developing projects that have redefined the urban landscape in Mexico.
With 89 units, the tower applies sustainable design strategies that reduce its energy and water consumption and materials footprint, in line with the requirements of EDGE (Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies), an international sustainable building standard developed by IFC, a member of the World Bank Group.
Project

This residential tower is the first in Mérida, Yucatán, to achieve EDGE Advanced certification.
Integrated design and holistic modeling
From the schematic design stage, the project adopted an integrated vision and holistic modeling to achieve maximum performance in the development's configuration.
This analysis defined:
- Optimal tower placement, avoiding shadow casting between buildings.
- Maximum use of quality views toward the surroundings for each building.
- Orientation and strategic placement of terraces to enhance natural ventilation, improve occupant comfort, and reduce energy demand.
Torre Alaya - B1: first built phase
As a result of this approach, Torre Alaya - B1 integrates the following high-performance technologies and strategies:
- Ultra-efficient photovoltaic cells for on-site energy generation.
- Bioclimatic architecture, designed according to the local climate.
- Centralized hybrid water heating system, powered by solar energy and gas.
- Duovent-type windows, which improve thermal and acoustic insulation.
- Thermally insulated walls and slabs, as part of the high-performance building envelope.
Result: these strategies, working together, make Torre Alaya - B1 a benchmark in thermal efficiency and sustainability, offering more comfortable, resilient, and energy-responsible spaces.
